- Where do you turn to?
- Why would you want to?
Don't worry, we've done the work and that's what we are going to cover in this post.
How do you get a job in Ireland when not living there?
This is a common question we get at SwedenToIreland and there are various ways you can obtain a job without even making too much of an effort.
- Get or update your LinkedIn profile.
- Reach out to recruiters based in Ireland (If you do the above, they might even contact you!).
- Directly apply for job positions in Ireland.
All of the above will make it way easier for you to find and actually be found.
Where do you turn to?
If you've tried the above without success then don't worry, there are lots of other ways you can get a job, try reaching out on social media, to friends, connections on LinkedIn or even contacting the company you'd love to work for. If this also fails, don't despair, we're here to help, just contact us and we'll help you figure things out.
Why would you want to go?
If you haven't read "Why you will love moving to Ireland" then this might be a good time. Or maybe you read it and you're still not convinced. We get it, Ireland is not for everyone, but it kind of is. Being born and raised in Sweden and then ending up here, in Ireland, has been one of the best decisions ever.
People say it rains a lot here but that is only mildly true, it does rain, but only for an hour or two and the sun shines through. Besides, how great is e.g. Swedish winter? 6 months of darknes, cold and isolation compared to scattered showers and plus 10 degrees makes the choice a bit easier from our perspective. The job market, as you could read in the blog post above, is also another reason why you'd love it here, the job market is basically waiting for you.
Last and actually most importantly it's the people of Ireland that make this country so great. No matter where you go or who you are, people are friendly. If you go to a restaurant and sit by yourself by the bar, someone will come up and ask if you want to chat, in a non-intrusive way whereas in Sweden they usually only do that when alcohol is involved.
So what are you waiting for?
To summarize how you get a job in Ireland form abroad, do the following:
- Update your LinkedIn.
- Remember that 10 degrees and some rain is better than -10 degrees and 6 months of darkness.
- To quote Shia LaBeouf Just. Do. It.
